For too long sport has sat on the sidelines on climate so, as mad AFL fans as well as passionate environmentalists, we were stoked to see this group of value-aligned AFL Players step up to the plate and put their name and their code behind Climate Action. Hoorah - AFLP4CA was born.
We were even more stoked when co-founders Jasper Pittard and Tom Campbell put their trust in us to produce their merch. We sat down with the boys got into their why, their how and what drives them to continue Doing Good Sh*t.
Everything ! Our goals are to normalise climate action with our fans by telling authentic stories about the sustainable solutions at hand.
1. How to write Grant Applications
2. The importance of strategising everything
3. Build a team as soon as possible
Being an organisation that promotes Climate Action we'd be hypocritical not to consider ethical and sustainable products when doing merch. So we were pumped to team with TCGCo crew who tick all the right boxes in these area's. It's also an important opportunity for us to educate people about alternative solutions to consumption, and that there are ways you can still enjoy having the things you love without impacting the planet negatively.
Setting boundaries. Working in the climate space is important and we are passionate about it, but at times it can be pretty bleak. Let's face it, we've got an up hill battle on our hands to reverse the worst impacts of climate change. So balance in this space is super important so that you aren't too drained. Spending time in nature is a great way to connect/balance yourself, the planet and your work.
We want the AFL industry to be world leading when it comes to protecting the future of our planet and the future of sport. Transitioning our industry to net-zero and then net-postive is one part, but bringing people along for the journey is just as vital.
Working with the AFL, Clubs and players on our industries journey to a sustainable future.
Following your passion, practising what you preach, trying your best to be better and bring others with you.
